chortle (chore-tle) n., A gleeful chuckle.
Their intention was to look at each other and smile, but attempting this cheesy pose resulted in a chortle instead.

FUN FACT: Lewis Carroll coined this term–a combination of chuckle and snort–in Through the Looking-Glass (1871).
